Your container garden has been planted with
care, with some slow-release granular fertilizer already
included. To care for
your container, we recommend the
following:
·
Keep soil
moist! In Spring or
Fall, water every 2-3 days, preferably in the morning. When watering, do it
thoroughly.
Summertime’s hot, dry windy weather may necessitate watering
daily, since wind and heat evaporate the stored-up moisture in
container gardens more rapidly. The best way to tell if your
container needs water is to feel the soil: sticking in your finger up
to the second joint will quickly tell you if the plant needs water.
If your plants are drooping, they are almost certainly thirsty. If you will be away
from home for a few days, consider moving the container to a cooler,
shaded or protected area where the container will not dry out as
much.
·
Fertilize with a
general purpose fertilizer (Miracle-Gro, etc.) once every 2 weeks,
following the manufacturer’s instructions. Always water the
container before fertilizing as not to “burn” the roots with the
fertilizer.
·
Deadheading: Plants will go to seed once
their blooms have finished.
To extend your container’s blooms, simply remove the old
flowers by pinching off the flower head once it has faded. This will encourage more
flowers to grow.
Enjoy your container garden! Thanks from Potted
Petals!
